Its his wife, literally. She loves him but her memories have been fucked with. His memories too! But his feeling is somehow still there and he knows there is some kind of a problem, that's why he doesn't want to kill her. But if someone messed around with say...your child's memories and they were terrible to you because the person who modified their memories made them that way...would you kill your own child? Wouldn't you be letting the evil person get away with it? In a way...aren't YOU the one being controlled? If you can be manipulated into killing your own loved one?

I hate using blatant plot armor to progress plot.

This is why ppl are called haters..... relax and watch the show or drop it.... there is already enough hate in the world over serious talking points, we dont need the hate over silly irrelevant points like plot armor..... it will always be there and the reason why the Mc is the Mc and your not.... write your own story..... bet you'll have a thick coating of plot armor for yourself

Don't you call me a hater. I've been watching this show twice a week ever since it started airing one and a half year ago.

What the writers did this episode was lazy or stupid, maybe even both.
How does Nangong Yuqin not know what happened to her after she passed out?
Surely there was plenty of people around her who could have told her, or she could have learned by hearing gossip.
By her reaction after she stabbed Tan Yun, when Gongsun Ruoxi shouted at her that Tan Yun was the one who saved her life, you could tell that it's the first time she heard that truth.
So basically, the writers used the main character who can't possibly be killed off, had him backstabbed and made Nangong Yuqin look even more evil than she needs to be for the sole purpose of her learning that Tan Yun saved her life.
They also more or less wasted an entire episode's runtime for such a simple thing that could have been explained with a 60 second scene of her waking up after she was treated by the pill Tan Yun prescribed and being told by someone what happened after she passed out.

This is literally -exactly- how it happened in the novel. Nangong Yuqin's teacher has been lying to her and manipulating her memories. You don't remember her headaches? Yeah, those have been going on for a few years now as she tries to remember something.

in the episode that just dropped, they explained that the palace lord had the people lie to her.
